Privacy Policy
PDFBeam ("we", "our", or "the app") is an iOS mobile application that lets you upload PDF files and convert them into unique links and QR codes. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use PDFBeam, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Information we collect
When you create an account and use the app, we may collect the following data:
1.1 Account registration
When you register with email, we collect:
- Name — to identify your account and personalize your profile
- Email address — for account creation, login, and password recovery
- Password — stored securely using one-way hashing; we never store plain-text passwords
Alternatively, you may sign in with Sign in with Apple. In that case, Apple may share your name and email address (or a private relay email) with us for authentication and account management. We do not receive your Apple ID password.
1.2 Uploaded files and usage
- Uploaded files: your PDF files and the unique sharing URLs associated with them.
- Usage data: technical records needed to provide the service, such as upload time, file name, and account identifier.
- Device and app information: limited technical data for debugging, security, and performance (e.g. operating system version, app version).
1.3 Subscriptions and purchases
PDFBeam offers premium packages through in-app purchases processed by Apple and managed via RevenueCat. When you purchase or subscribe to a premium plan, the following may be collected and processed:
- Subscription status and entitlement information (active, expired, or cancelled)
- Product identifiers and purchase history related to premium packages
- App User ID linked to your account for subscription validation
- Transaction and receipt data needed to verify purchases and restore access
We do not collect or store your full payment card details. All payment processing is handled by Apple through the App Store.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create, authenticate, and manage your account (email registration or Sign in with Apple)
- Upload, store, and process your PDF files and generate unique sharing links
- Provide QR code generation within the app
- Process, validate, and manage premium subscriptions and in-app purchases
- Restore purchases and maintain your premium access across devices
- Handle password resets and support requests
- Maintain service security, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations
- Improve app performance and user experience
3. Legal basis
We process your personal data to perform our contract with you, based on our legitimate interests (such as security and service improvement), to comply with legal obligations, and where required, with your consent. We comply with applicable data protection laws, including the GDPR where it applies.
4. Data sharing and third-party services
We do not sell your personal data. We may share your data only as necessary to provide the service with the following parties:
- Hosting and infrastructure providers: for file storage and backend services
- Apple: for Sign in with Apple authentication and for processing in-app purchases and subscriptions through the App Store
- RevenueCat: to manage subscription entitlements, validate purchases, and sync premium access. RevenueCat may process purchase history, subscription status, app identifiers, and related transaction data on our behalf. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy for more details.
- Legal authorities: when required by applicable law
We require all service providers to process your data only on our instructions and to implement appropriate security measures.
5. Data retention
Your account information (name, email) is retained for as long as your account is active. Uploaded PDF files and generated sharing links are stored to provide the service and allow you to manage your files. Subscription and purchase records may be retained as needed to manage entitlements, comply with financial regulations, and resolve billing disputes. When you delete your account or submit a deletion request, we will delete or anonymize your data within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as purchase verification.
6. Security
We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption, access controls, and secure transmission protocols. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is 100% secure.
7. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Request deletion of your data
- Request restriction of processing
- Request data portability
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

8. Children's privacy
PDFBeam is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such data, we will delete it promptly.
9. International data transfers
Your data may be processed on servers located outside your country of residence, including where our service providers operate. Where required, we implement appropriate contractual and technical safeguards to protect your data.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For significant changes, we will notify you through the app or on our website. The updated date will be shown at the top of this page.
